PI-GROUPE
About us

A company with an architect's approach and an engineering culture

PI-GROUPE is a company founded by Étienne de Longeaux, a technical architect with twenty-four years behind him.

A consulting and engineering firm dedicated to information systems architecture, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, automation and the industrialisation of DevOps and SRE practice, PI-GROUPE steps in where infrastructure decides whether the project succeeds.

Our aim: turning complex environments into platforms that are secure, automatable, scalable, observable and reproducible.

AI rounds out that approach: it speeds up analysis, design, development and operations, without displacing the demands of architecture, security, governance and human validation.

A story picking up where it left off

PI-GROUPE is not a company of convenience. It was first founded in 2002 and run for nine years, focused on methodological standardisation and research — two in-house frameworks for building object-oriented software came out of it.

The years that followed went into architecture work inside large organisations: Thales, the French national lottery, Renault, MAIF, several ministries and the Paris police prefecture. That path brought what the 2002 company lacked — scale, production pressure, and exposure to genuinely critical systems.

PI-GROUPE resumes its activity today with that background.

Three principles that shape every engagement

Automation before documentation

A written procedure goes stale; a Terraform module or an Ansible role stays true because it runs. Documentation comes afterwards, to explain the decisions — not to describe the steps.

Handover is part of the deliverable

A successful engagement is measured by what the team can do once the consultant leaves. At Thales, at the police prefecture, at the Ministry of Defence, skills handover was explicitly in scope.

Simplicity costs less

One well-partitioned shared cluster beats ten dedicated ones. The FinOps work carried out at Thales rests on that idea: capacity follows load rather than a guessed-at forecast.

A remit that reaches beyond France

A meaningful part of this career took shape in French-speaking Africa. The Gabon Digital 2025 national plan produced the architecture report for the e-Government programme, delivered to the national agency for digital infrastructure and frequencies.

Earlier, a European project run between Paris and Dakar led to the creation of AfricafilmsTV and more than ten local jobs. PI-GROUPE remains a founding member and partner of the ACT Dakar association.

These engagements call for more than technical skill: working with constrained infrastructure, talking to non-technical decision-makers, and delivering results that can be verified.
